My first ever Persian (Iranian) Wedding, with Ellahae & Ahmad being married in the Italian gardens at the very impressive Hatley Castle, Victoria.
After the normal civil ceremony the traditional Persian wedding ceremony took place which I think deserves a bit more explanation. It involved giving each other a finger of honey, lots of nice food and lots of hilarity. Given everything happened in their native tongue I had no idea what was being said, but I got some of the guests to explain it to me afterwards.
Basically the bride is given 3 chances to not marry her man.
!
It goes something like this (I’m paraphrasing here) :-
“Will you marry this man?”
….”hmmmm, let me think about it, I’ve got to do my hair tonight”
“Will you marry this man?”
….”Hmmm, don’t know, there’s something on TV I want to watch tonight”
“Will you marry this man?”
…..”Oh I suppose so”![]()
After the fun shoot it was a drive north to their reception at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.
Anyway, comments most welcome below and keep an eye on my clients page for the rest of their images

[...] Ellahae and Ahmed, who’s wedding I shot last year and blogged here, wanted to get together again for a shoot (and an excuse for Ellahae to put her dress on again!). [...]
