This is Ang, one of my brides from 2008. She wanted a special present for her future husband-to-be and I suggested a Boudoir shoot.

Now…what is ‘Boudoir’ I can hear you asking. Well first off it’s not Porn, or soft porn…just to put folks mind at rest, no ‘body bits’ are ever on display. I would classify Boudoir as tasteful glamour photography. I personally prefer the term ‘Intimate photography‘. Strictly speaking by definition ‘Boudoir’ means in the bedroom, whereas for Ang’s shoot we were down at a local very secluded beach. Although for other shoots I would shoot at a client’s home if that was their preference.

Boudoir/Intimate photography has really taken off in the last year of so. The few clients I’ve shot intimates for love it. The feedback I’ve had is that it makes them feel good and confident about themselves and of course their partners love the results as well.

So what does an ‘Intimate’ shoot involve? Well I normally suggest around an hour for the shoot, and for clients to choose a few different ‘costume’ changes, e.g. their favorite lingerie. I always request a female friend or two be present at the shoot to help calm the nerves, and help with ‘costume’ changes, etc. I’ve found once clients have got over their inital nerves they relax and we have a lot of fun during the shoot.

So what do clients get at the end of their shoot? I have two ‘Intimate’ products currently. Clients can simply choose to do the shoot and receive the edited images on CD, or the alternative to the CD is that I custom design a Fine Art leather bound ‘storybook’ with their images. Current cost on either of these options (shoot + CD, or shoot + book) is $370+tax.
