So not much hanging around in 2009 for my first wedding. A fantastic day at the Long Beach Lodge for Lynne & Darren’s Tofino Wedding.

Absolutely, positively the last wedding of the year, Jen & Lawrence.

So a hellish drive up to Comox in a whiteout snowstorm didn’t bode well for the start of Jen and Lawrence’s big day. Several of the bridal party were unable to make it up due to the weather but I think this was still the largest bridal party I’d seen, somewhere around 22 people including 8-10 kids.

Married at a local church in Comox, and then onto a friends local property for the photoshoot. Finally onto the Florence Filberg hall for their reception.

Last wedding of the year, Michelle & Robin ,Tofino

So after about 62 weddings I come to my last of the year with Michelle and Robin’s big day at Long Beach Lodge in Tofino. The weather was kind for once and we had a stunning sunset.

Renu and Tom braved the wet weather for some beach shots with their reception at the Tin Wis resort.

Angela & David, 27th Sept, Nanaimo

So my last wedding for 6 weeks, and off to Disneyland/San Diego in a week for my ‘summer vacation’, yipee!

Anyway I digress. It was finally Ang and Dave’s big day, and we’d met on two previous occasions, for their engagement shoot, and a ‘secret’ boudoir shoot with Ang. This was too be a present to Dave as a book to be opened on his wedding morning. His ‘boudoir book’ received rave reviews from Dave’s groomsmen

Their reception was held at the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo.

DIY Ceremonies! Colleen and Robb, Oyster Bay. 24th Sept.

So today provided another first for me, which is pretty rare now that I’ve shot almost 200 weddings.

Colleen and Robb’s day job is organizing and hosting weddings at Mt Washington, and today was their own personal ‘Big Day’. But In a case of cruel irony their marriage commissioner (who shall rename nameless) forgot to show for their ceremony.

As you can imagine people were not happy! But the hero of the day was their personal friend Dave Hampshire who is also the resident DJ as Mt Washington. He located their personal vows and performed the ceremony for them. And a very fine job he did too. Dave pulled triple duty yesterday, DJ, MC, and their ‘Marriage Commissioner’

We had typically B.C weather, i.e. pouring rain all day, but that didn’t dampen the spirits for a quick beach shoot.

Janice & Lee, 20th Sept, Ladysmith

So another new location for me today. Janice & Lee’s big day was held at the Kiwi Cove Lodge in Ladysmith.

It was then onto Bowen Pk, Nanaimo for their reception, and a very nice buffet dinner laid on by the students from John Barsby School Catering.

Jen & Gary, Powell River, 18th July.

So a rare trip to the main land for Jen and Gary’s big day. They were married at Jen grandparents stunning waterfront property (or Gary’s “inheritance” as he jokingly referred to it in his speech ).

A leap year wedding! I wonder when they celebrate their anniversary?

Christina & Brett has planned something a bit unique for their big day. They got married at the Patricia Movie Theatre! The weather wasn’t kind to us, but we made the best of it for the fun shoot. Reception was held at the impressive Dwight Hall . I think Christina & Brett will get my annual prize for the most imaginative cake topper this year
