Tigh Na Mara Weddings review

So I thought I’d post a series of Wedding Venue reviews before my main wedding season takes off. Might be helpful to future brides in their planning.

First up it the Tigh Na Mara Resort in Parksville. I shoot a lot of weddings here each year, it’s a very popular venue. Their main ceremony location is the Gazebo overlooking the Bay. I’ve also shot weddings inside the resort in inclement weather. They can host large weddings 150+guests, as well as the smaller intimate weddings, e.g. my last wedding there was in January for around 30 guests. They have multiple banquet halls depending on your wedding size, and serve great food (very important for hungry photographers!). In terms of photographic locations I either shoot down on the beach if the tide is out, or it’s a short 5 minute drive to one my favourite locations, Madronna Point, which is across the bay from Tigh Na Mara.

First wedding of the year, Sam & David at Tigh Na Mara, 29th Jan

A short afternoon wedding to easy me gently into 2011, and Sam and David were troupers as I made them stand out in the rain for photo’s at the Tign Na Mara resort in Parksville, with a candle-lit ceremony inside the resort.

Katy & Caolan, Hottest wedding of the year.

Traditionally (at least for me) the last weekend in July is always the hottest, this year it was a couple of weeks late. Of course I’m referring to the groomsmen….:-)

Katy and Caolan’s big day was at the Tigh-na-Mara resort in Parksville, with a bridal/fun shoot at Madrona point. Last night also saw the launch of a new product for CB Photography….my open-air ‘CRAZYSNAPZ’ photobooth! This was a big hit at the reception, K&C and their guests had a blast with it, more on that in the next post.

5 weddings and a snowball fight….in July

Another multiple wedding post, just busy busy, it’s that time of year! So over the last week or so Janice married Rhys at the Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet, Katy and Jamie tied the knot at The Deep Cove Chalet in Sidney, Caroline and Tom exchanged vows at the Rockwater Secret Cove resort near Sechelt, Sarah & Chris walked the isle at the Tigh Na-Mara resort in Parksville, and Nicole and Mike threw snowballs on their big day at the top of Mt Washington.

4 weddings – 5 days…..phew!

So I’m gonna blog 4 weddings in one post! Last week I shot 4 weddings, the end stretch of 8 in 2 weeks. They were Kim and Steve at Long Beach Lodge, Megan and Chris in Ucluelet, Vicky and David at Tigh na Mara, and Erin and Craig, also at Tigh Na Mara in Parksville. I’m mixing the pics as well just for some variety

Hanako & Mike, 5th April, Parksville wedding

So my first ‘traditional’ Japanese bride, which turned out to be quite an experience! Hanako had 3 outfit changes during her wedding day at the Tigh na Mara Resort in Parksville. Western Brides get off easy with being strapped into their dresses. Hanako needed two helpers and over an hour to get strapped into her ceremonial Kimono! And her husband-to-be Mike also wore traditional dress.

Welsh Brits get hitched on Vancouver Island!

So Nicola & Gareth + family members came all the way from Wales for get married at the Tigh-na-Mara resort in Parksville.

melissa & brandon. Parksville wedding. 22nd August

The Tigh-Na-Mara resort was the host today for Melissa & Brandon big day, for what I think was the quickest wedding ceremony I’ve witnessed, less than 5 minutes. And then onto the beach and Madrona Point for the fun shoot.
